Mazkur maqolada mashina tarjimasi texnologiyalarining asosiy yo‘nalishlari, evolyutsiyasi, xususan, statistik mashina tarjimasi (SMT), qoidalarga asoslangan mashina tarjimasi (RBMT) hamda bevosita mashina tarjimasining lingvistik va texnologik xususiyatlari tadqiq etiladi. Bevosita mashina tarjimasining leksik birliklar va ikki tilli lug‘atlarga tayanishi, manba til birliklarini oraliq reprezentatsiyasiz maqsad tiliga transformatsiya qilish mexanizmi yoritiladi. Shuningdek, ushbu yondashuvning sintaktik va semantik munosabatlarni yetarli darajada hisobga olmasligi natijasida yuzaga keladigan leksik nomuvofiqlik, sintaktik xatolar va mazmuniy noaniqliklar tahlil qilinadi.
