PROBLEMS AND METHODS IN MACHINE TRANSLATION

This article examines the linguistic and methodological foundations of rule-based machine translation (RBMT). It discusses the operating principles of RBMT systems, the specific features of using structural and grammatical rules, their existing limitations, and the challenges of adapting them to new subject domains. In addition, the distinctive features of direct, transfer-based, and interlingua approaches to machine translation are briefly described.
