SEMANTIC FEATURES OF DIPLOMATIC LEXICON IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH

This article analyzes the semantic features of diplomatic lexis in Uzbek and English from a comparative perspective. The functional nature of diplomatic discourse causes such features as neutrality, euphemism, mitigation of ambiguity, the implicit expression of evaluative semes, and pragmatic adaptation to manifest actively in its lexical system. The study semantically examines diplomatic terms, formal expressions, political statements, and lexical units characteristic of international communication. The results of the comparative analysis show that, while the general communicative functions of diplomatic lexis in English and Uzbek are preserved, there are differences in their stylistic and cultural expression. The article also highlights the issue of semantic equivalence in the translation process of diplomatic units.
