PROBLEMS OF EQUIVALENCE AND ADEQUACY IN TRANSLATING INNOVATIVE ECONOMIC LINGUISTIC UNITS FROM ENGLISH INTO UZBEK

This article examines the issues of equivalence and adequacy in translating innovative economic linguistic units from English into Uzbek. It provides a comparative analysis of translation and adaptation variants in Uzbek for contemporary terms such as FinTech, crowdfunding, digital wallet, platform economy, gig economy, open banking, green finance, financial inclusion, cashless economy, and regulatory sandbox. The study explores the potential of various translation strategies, including full and partial equivalence, calque translation, descriptive translation, transliteration, and hybrid translation. The findings demonstrate that formal correspondence alone is insufficient to ensure translation quality. The conceptual meaning of a term, its institutional function, and the target audience must also be taken into account to achieve an equivalent and contextually adequate translation.
