METHODOLOGY FOR WORKING WITH NEW WORDS IN READING LITERACY LESSONS

This thesis presents the methodological foundations of working with new words in the process of developing primary school students’ reading literacy. Particular attention is paid to expanding students’ vocabulary, understanding the meanings of new words, and developing the skills to use them correctly and appropriately in speech. The study analyzes the possibilities of using various methods in reading literacy lessons, including explaining words in context, using synonyms and antonyms, pictures and visual aids, dictionary work, question-and-answer activities, “Brainstorming,” and “Word Chain.” Practical recommendations aimed at consolidating new words and incorporating them into students’ active vocabulary have also been developed.
