THE POETICS OF SPACE AND THE CONCEPT OF NATURE IN THE WORKS OF THOMAS HARDY AND KHURSHID DO‘STMUKHAMMAD

The article comparatively examines the poetics of space and the concept of nature in the works of Thomas Hardy and Khurshid Dostmuhammad. Space is interpreted not merely as a geographical setting but as a poetic category integrating character psychology, historical memory, social environment, and the author’s philosophical-aesthetic worldview. Hardy’s Wessex, Egdon Heath, fields, woods and roads are compared with the market, urban space, garden, road and domestic environment in Dostmuhammad’s prose. The analysis shows that in Hardy nature often functions as an autonomous historical and philosophical force, whereas in Dostmuhammad spatial images are more closely connected with the inner world of the individual, moral choice, and the symbolic interpretation of contemporary social reality.
