Abstract

This thesis analyzes the functions of the components daryo (river), soy (stream), ko‘l (lake), buloq (spring), and suv ombori (reservoir) in Uzbek hydronyms in terms of identifying the type of geographical feature, individualizing place names, and forming structural models. It distinguishes between the naming of natural and artificial water bodies and examines cases in which the same name form refers to different types of geographical features.
