This paper analyzes the linguistic nature, types, and semantic-pragmatic characteristics of the phenomenon of presupposition. It examines presupposition as implicit information—not explicitly stated in speech but mutually accepted beforehand by the speaker and the listener—and highlights its role in modern linguistics. Furthermore, the study demonstrates its function in shaping the implicit layer of discourse and its relationship with context, background knowledge, and the communicative situation. The research findings contribute to a deeper understanding of presupposition and expand the possibilities for its application in the process of communication.
