This article provides a comprehensive analysis of game-based language learning, self-regulated learning, and their integration as a unified approach. The study extensively examines the integration of game technologies into the educational process and their impact on learners’ motivation, affective state, and academic performance. Additionally, new opportunities for language learning are explored through the use of digital games, mobile technologies, and virtual and augmented reality tools. Based on the research, the advantages, existing challenges, and future development directions of game-based learning are identified.
