This article scientifically substantiates one of the effective methods for solving non-homogeneous differential equations of the nth order with linear constant coefficients, the method of indefinite coefficients. In the course of the research, the theoretical foundations and application limits of this method are systematically analyzed. The mechanism of choosing a particular solution for equations consisting of different elementary functions on the right-hand side is explained, and different cases are considered separately.
