Abstract

The competency approach requires the development of an economist in higher education not only with theoretical knowledge, but also with the ability to effectively communicate in professional situations, express a substantiated opinion, work with analytical texts, and construct professional speech in a normative and pragmatic manner. This thesis addresses the issue of improving the professional speech preparation of economists within the framework of the competency system, and the structural components of speech competence, didactic conditions serving its development, and assessment criteria are conceptually substantiated. The research concept is based on the integration of professional discourse, genre-oriented teaching, and a task-based approach. As a result, it was concluded that the effectiveness of training can be increased by organizing oral and written speech activities specific to economic communication in a purposeful manner, bringing training tasks closer to real professional activities, and aligning assessment with competency results.
