FEATURES OF LEGAL REGULATION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES IN THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

The article examines the specifics of legal regulation of the telecommunications sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the context of digitalization and global information integration. It provides an overview of the development of the national telecommunications infrastructure and legal framework since the 1990s. Particular attention is given to a comparative analysis of the previous version of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Telecommunications" from 1999 and its new version adopted in 2024. The author identifies key changes aimed at structural modernization of legislation, strengthening the institutional role of the state, ensuring equal access to services, and fostering market competition. The article also highlights existing legal gaps and outlines areas for further improvement in light of Uzbekistan’s ongoing accession to the World Trade Organization. Emphasis is placed on the need for harmonization of national legislation with international telecommunications standards, along with proposals for legal refinement to meet the challenges of the digital era
