Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of the scholarly work of Khodi Zarif and Kunio Yanagita, the founding figures of Uzbek and Japanese folklore studies. It examines their contributions to the collection, research, and theoretical grounding of oral folk creativity, along with their methodology and academic legacy. The article highlights both commonalities and differences in their approaches
