Abstract

This thesis analyzes the linguistic nature of hyperbole, its place in the language system, and its functional-semantic features in literary discourse. The study examines the semantic, stylistic, contextual, pragmatic, and functional features of hyperbole, as well as its potential for realizing communicative purposes. The enhancement of expressiveness, emotionality, imagery, and impact through the use of hyperbolic units in context is illustrated with examples.
