This article explores the pressing issues related to the linguistic analysis of text. The text is considered as a major linguistic unit, and its features within the framework of structure, semantics, and pragmatics are analyzed. The stages of the formation of text linguistics, its main theoretical approaches, and their practical applications are examined. In conclusion, it is emphasized that a deep linguistic analysis of text is important not only for theoretical, but also for applied linguistics.
